Introduction to archery

INTRO TO ARCHERY , first Friday of the month @ 7:00 pm. Pre-Registration is required (see below)

Are  you interested in learning how to shoot a bow? Falcon Archers is  opening the range to the community on the first Friday of every month!  The program is for the public and absolutely no equipment or prior archery experience is required. In fact, it is intended for the  enjoyment of the public and the "archery curious".

The  Friday Night Intro to Archery is held from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The cost is  $20 for adults, $10 for students (cash only, exact change would be  appreciated). All equipment is provided by the club at no additional  charge.

Individuals must be 10 years or older to participate in Friday night shoots.  Children may not be dropped off -- minors under 18 must be accompanied  by their legal guardian, who must remain on site (but you could shoot, too!). We cannot be responsible for minors.

If you have your own bow you are welcome to bring it. Prior to shooting, please have an instructor look it over.

First  time participants are guided through our range and archery safety  procedures, and then our Instructor Staff will offer quality basic  archery instruction in a safe, fun, and friendly environment. The entire  evening is supervised by a senior staff member, and most of our  certified instructors have competed in state and national competitions.

You will then spend a fun and challenging evening learning a modern spin on  an ancient sport. You will be amazed at just how much fun you may  have!

(Note:  The Intro to Archery is not intended to be a venue for social  networking or for birthday parties, as space is limited. We cannot  accommodate large groups. )

Pre-registration is required by emailing us at falcon.archers@gmail.com.  Tell us the number of participants, name, age (if under 18), and if you are bringing  your own equipment.  We begin accepting registration on the first day of the preceding month.

Please arrive at the club by 6:45 on the indicated Friday to get signed in and  have equipment set up for you.  We will be limiting each class to 12 archers each night to ensure each participant has a fun and informative evening.

Additional Intro to Archery dates will be held on the first Friday of every month:

- April 7th [FULL]

- May 5th   [Accepting registrations beginning April 1st]

- June 2nd

- June 10th (Special "Archery is MARVELous"  event)

- July 7th

- August 4th

F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the class like, and do we get to shoot very much?

  • We spend about 20 minutes of the class discussing safety, the equipment, and introducing you to good archery form.  Then we shoot.  Then we shoot some more.  You will probably shoot enough to go home with sore arms.

Do you offer private lessons?

  • NO, we do NOT offer private lessons.  If you are interested in learning archery,  we recommend coming to the "Intro to Archery" class to see how you like the sport.  Then we will be happy to talk to you about how you can continue to pursue archery through a club membership.

Can I bring my Scout Troop or Den?

  • Unfortunately we are not really set up to instruct classes of 4H,  Scouts, or other youth groups.
  • You should also know that BSA sets these limits on archery for Cubs:      Archery, BB gun shooting, and slingshot shooting are restricted to day camps, Cub Scout/Webelos Scout long term camps, council-managed family camping programs, or council activities where there are properly trained supervisors and where all standards for BSA shooting sports are enforced.     Archery, BB gun shooting, and slingshot shooting are not approved unit activities.

Does Falcon Archers rent equipment?

  • We do not have any rental equipment available.  Loaner equipment is provided during the Intro to Archery class, but it is not available outside of the class.
